Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project Briefing Note: Statutory Consultation Response for One Earth Solar Farm pdf icon PDF 2 MB

Minutes:

Following Planning Committee on 7th February 2024, Members resolved to amend the Planning Scheme of Delegation to include elements of the Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) regime to be presented to Planning Committee in order that Member input could be had on the Authorities submission to the project Promoter and Planning Inspectorate as part of the Development Consent Order (DCO) Process.

As part of the revised Scheme of Delegation, it was considered that a report as early as practicable on any NSIPs impacting upon the district would be tabled to Members in the form of a briefing paper.

The Planning Development Manager gave a summary of the One Earth Solar Farm briefing paper which outlines consultee and officer’s comments made on the PIER prior to the expiry of the statutory consultation period and requests the comments of Members.

Members asked if the NSIP will provide community benefits to Parish Councils and residents that are affected by the solar farm and agreed with the Planning Development Manager that the landscape and visual impact of the scheme needs to be considered cumulatively with that of other solar farms within our district.

An elected Member thanked the Planning Development Manager for putting the briefing note together.
