Darrell Pulk – Cabinet Member for Environment and Energy
As a Council, our shared vision is for Bassetlaw to be a green and sustainable district which is ready to face the challenges of climate change. My role as Cabinet Member for Environment and Energy puts me at the forefront of this exciting challenge, and I am keen to implement policies that improve the lives of local residents through clear environmental achievements.
I will oversee the implementation of a green Local Area Energy Plan, enabling controlled growth of energy generation projects, and seek to secure funding for a ‘one stop shop’ for free advice and grants for small businesses looking to boost energy use and lower carbon emissions.
For residents, I will strive to increase the scope of kerbside collections and work to increase the use of our parks and green spaces to improve health and well-being through exercise. I am particularly keen to oversee the Council’s tree planting strategy as described in the Draft Local Plan.
I have previously served as a borough and Nottinghamshire County Councillor for over 20 years, before moving to Barnby Moor in 2011. I was proud to serve as Chair of Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Authority for 13 years. I have a passion for gardening and walking in the countryside, and will use my best endeavours to promote a greener accessible Bassetlaw for all.
