Additional Information

I have been a Councillor since 2019 being newly elected in my Ward of Harworth. During my first term as a Councillor I served on various committees; Planning, Overview and Scrutiny, Audit and Risk, Health and Safety and was pleased to serve as Vice Chair on Overview and Scrutiny for a year.

I was appointed as Cabinet member for Health and Wellbeing following my re-election 2023. I was pleased to accept this position following my career where I worked within the NHS.

I worked as a nurse, starting on a very busy medical ward which showed me the impact of inequalities on the health of our population. I later moved to become a Specialist Public Health Nurse; School Nurse and working with Children, Young People and Families. This strengthened my belief and ethos of working to provide equity within our community.

I went on to work as a Vaccination Coordinator, Clinical lead and a Clinical Manager. Each of my roles has seen me identifying and working with the most vulnerable people within the community, consistently working to reduce inequalities and provide greater equity.

Following retirement, I wished to ‘give back’ to health continuing my links with the trust where I started my Career. I stood for election as a Public Governor, Bassetlaw for Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital. I was elected in 2020 and am currently the lead Governor. This too enhances my role as the Integrated Care Boards provides Governors a new role, to ensure that Non-Executive Directors identify and work to reduce health inequalities.
